As you are probably aware Cyber Monday was invented in 2005 to get people to shop online. Were you online shopping?
Cyber Monday was a snowy, blowy waiting in the hospital day for me! All patients arrive approximately 2 hours prior to their surgery time. My surgery was subsequently delayed by 2.5 hours.. It made for a long day. I have to admit while I was waiting, I did surf the net to see if there were any deals but nothing seemed appealing. No purchases made by me…
Surgery went well and I woke up in the operating room versus the recovery room. Apparently the recovery room was crowded but procedure was that I still had to be moved to recovery prior to post-op recovery. My doctor was trying to get me to go straight to post-op but policy is policy. I got home about 6:45 pm and was there at 9:15 a.m. Felt like work..lol That said, everyone was very nice and accomodating.
I am definitely tired and sore but not too bad. Today was a PJ day. My shoulders are hurting and my voice hoarse. I know they said they put a breathing tube down your throat when they put you out. Time to relax and recouperate. I do have to call the surgeon’s office to make a follow up appointment which was part of the discharge instructions. Also no showering for 24 hours..
Last week I attended orientation at the hospice that I will be volunteering at to get more details on the various positions that are available. I have to have a conversation with the volunteer coordinator and we will go from there. So many opportunities… Also more training to be had as well. There was also discussion about “confidentiality”. I won’t be able to discuss any cases outside of the hospice and only with other volunteers and the coordinator. Makes sense to me. I suggested that they have monthly meetings where we can talk about the cases or use them to unload if any are particularly difficult.
I have my monthly PFA meeting at the Hospital tomorrow and haven’t decided if I will do that in person or over the phone. I am feeling quite exhausted…
Anyway, I am on some pain killers and this post will be short and sweet…
I wanted to share a funny joke for the day:
Heavenly Justice
Once there was a priest that was an avid golfer. Every chance he would get, he would be on the golf course swinging away. It was an obsession. One Sunday it was a picture perfect day for golfing. The sun was out, no clouds in the sky and the temperature was just right.
The preacher was in a quandry at to what to do, and shortly, the urge to play golf overcame him. He called an assistant to tell him that he was sick and could not do church, packed the car up and drove 3 hours to a golf course where no one would recognize him. Happily he began to play the course.
An angel up above was watching the preacher and was quite perturbed. He went to God and said “Look at that preacher. He should be punished for what he is doing”
God nodded in agreement. The preacher teed up on the first hole. He swung at the ball, and it sailed effortlessly and landed right in the cup 250 yards away. A picture perfect hole in one. He was amazed and excited.
The angel was a little shocked. He turned to God and said “I beg your pardon, I thought you were going to punish him”
God smiled “Think about it, who can he tell?”
